For Clinicians Who Want More Than a Job

Excelsior Ambulance Service is built for EMTs, paramedics, operators, and EMS professionals who want to do more than clock in for another shift. Across Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and Florida, Excelsior provides EMS and specialty transport services supported by advanced equipment, ongoing education, and a culture that expects more from the field.

We don’t just prioritize caring for people; we take care of our own. Excelsior covers 100% of employee health insurance premiums for full-time employees. When employees use Excelsior’s health care providers, their care costs them nothing.

That level of support is rare in any industry and even rarer in EMS. Excelsior values the people who carry the mission forward. If we expect our teams to be clinically ready, operationally focused, and prepared for complex calls, then we must support them with benefits, training, equipment, and meaningful growth opportunities.

100% Employer-Paid Health Insurance

Excelsior pays 100% of employee health insurance premiums for full-time employees. The monthly value is approximately $952 per employee, which is above the industry average and represents one of the strongest benefits offered in EMS.

When employees use Excelsior’s health care providers, covered care is paid in full, with zero out-of-pocket costs. Medical benefits are provided through Vālenz Health, and prescription benefits are provided through SmithRx.

Employees who do not need health coverage also have an option that supports their future. Excelsior offers a $275-per-month opt-out incentive that is contributed to an employee’s 401(k) for employees who waive health coverage.

This benefits model is part of Excelsior’s larger philosophy. Taking care of the team should be real, practical, and visible. Strong benefits help EMS professionals build careers without feeling they have to sacrifice stability to do meaningful work.

Clinical Opportunity Built into the Work

Excelsior is the best fit for EMTs and paramedics who want more clinical opportunities. The organization supports Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Critical Care Transportation, Interfacility Transfers, Special Needs Transportation, Event Coverage, and 911 Emergency Response.

That range of work creates opportunities to build experience across different EMS environments. A clinician may support lower-acuity BLS needs, interfacility transfers, high-acuity and specialty transports, event medical coverage, or emergency response operations. Each service line requires preparation, communication, and the ability to make sound decisions in the field.

Excelsior also allows EMTs to work to the full scope of their practice in each state where the organization operates, whereas many services do not. This matters for clinicians who want to use the training they have earned and continue building confidence in real-world EMS settings.

For paramedics, the opportunity is even greater. Excelsior’s advanced clinical capabilities, specialty transport services, and critical care environment create a setting where clinical growth is part of the job.

Advanced Equipment for Advanced Expectations

Excelsior invests in equipment because equipment changes what crews can do in the field. The expectation is simple: if a $1,000 piece of equipment helps save even one life, Excelsior believes it belongs in the system.

This philosophy affects every part of the workplace. Crews should not be expected to meet advanced clinical expectations without the tools to do so. Excelsior prioritizes equipment readiness because the right resources support safer, more capable care during transport and emergency response.

Excelsior’s equipment and clinical capabilities include ventilator-capable support, advanced respiratory care, IV antibiotic administration in the field, laboratory specimen collection in the field, blood products on ambulances (in development), and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for heart attacks and trauma (in development). These capabilities are part of the environment EMTs and paramedics step into when they join Excelsior and will quickly become comfortable using. At Excelsior, equipment supports the work crews that are trained to perform.

Education Is Built into How We Operate

Training at Excelsior is never treated as a checkbox for continuing education. It is built into the way the organization operates.

Excelsior’s Education Department supports ongoing continuing education, certification support, hands-on training, and professional development for EMS team members. The organization schedules and provides the continuing education units (CEUs) required for clinical personnel to renew their certifications, helping employees stay prepared without having to search for or pay for training on their own.

Excelsior also supports in-house training programs, EMT certification courses, and career growth for people entering the EMS field. For team members who want to continue advancing, the organization provides opportunities to earn paramedic certification and supports ongoing professional development.

This training model benefits both new and experienced clinicians. Newer EMTs can build confidence through mentorship and real-world field experience. Experienced paramedics can continue sharpening their skills in a system that values clinical growth. Education is one of the reasons Excelsior can support advanced clinical capabilities across the Southeast.

A Workplace for Growth, Not Just Shifts

A career at Excelsior can look different depending on your goals. Some team members want steady full-time work. Others want part-time opportunities, flexible schedules, or a path to a more advanced clinical role. Excelsior offers scheduling options that help employees build careers that fit their lives while supporting the operational needs of the organization.

Full-time employees accrue paid time off (PTO), which increases with tenure, and sick leave begins accruing on day one. Part-time employees earn one week of PTO each year. Employees also receive 11 paid federal holidays annually, including their birthday.

Work-life balance matters in EMS. The work is demanding, and strong operations depend on people who are supported enough to stay sharp, engaged, and ready. Excelsior’s approach to scheduling, PTO, benefits, and professional growth is designed to help EMS professionals build sustainable careers.

Start Strong. Grow Fast. Lead With Confidence.

Excelsior welcomes people at different stages of their EMS careers. If you are new to the field, the team can support you with training, mentorship, and real-world experience. If you are already experienced, Excelsior values your judgment and gives you the opportunity to work in an environment built around trust, capability, and professional respect.

The hiring process is designed to help candidates understand the expectations of the role and prepare for success. After submitting an application, qualified candidates may be invited to interview with the team. Clinical candidates will complete certification review, and driver roles include a motor vehicle record review.

Candidates may also complete a Physical Agility Test designed to reflect the physical demands of EMS work, such as lifting a stretcher, navigating stairs, and moving with urgency under pressure. Background checks and drug screenings are completed to help maintain the safety and professionalism expected in the field.

Once those steps are complete, onboarding helps new team members prepare for the work ahead.

Why EMTs and Paramedics Choose Excelsior

Excelsior is not trying to be the largest EMS organization in the Southeast. Instead, we are focused on being the organization that invests in people, equipment, training, and clinical capabilities.

EMS is a field where many clinicians feel undersupported, underequipped, or limited in how they are allowed to practice. Excelsior is building a different kind of environment. The organization offers 100% employer-paid health insurance premiums, generous PTO, paid holidays, 401(k) contributions, flexible scheduling, in-house education, and career development.

Alongside all of that, Excelsior supports high-acuity and specialty transports, critical care transport, emergency response, event coverage, and system-level EMS solutions for health care partners. This gives EMTs and paramedics the opportunity to gain experience within a broader, more capable EMS system.

If you want a workplace where training, equipment, and your professional growth matter, Excelsior was built for clinicians like you.
