Excelsior’s Education Department and EMS Training Academy are designed for clinicians who want more than a job. The goal is to make training accessible, practical, and tied to the real work crews perform in the field. Training supports both immediate readiness and long-term career growth. EMTs, paramedics, and operators gain opportunities to sharpen current skills, learn updated practices, and prepare for more complex field environments.
Employees have access to streamlined in-house continuing education, with paid attendance for eligible training opportunities. In EMS, many clinicians are left to chase CME on their own time; however, at Excelsior, professional development is built into the organization. Our goal is to benefit the individual clinician and strengthen the reliability healthcare partners expect from Excelsior crews.

Excelsior’s Education Department plays an active role in supporting EMS Patient Care Guidelines. These guidelines help crews deliver care that aligns with current clinical expectations and the needs of the healthcare organizations Excelsior serves. When field crews are trained consistently and guided by strong protocols, transport and response services become more dependable.
Protocol development is not only about meeting requirements, but also about giving crews the structure and confidence to respond appropriately when calls become more complex.
Training That Supports Advanced Field Capability
Excelsior’s education model is connected to the advanced capabilities we expect from our operators. Training must support what crews are expected to do in the field, especially as EMS continues moving beyond basic response and transport.
Excelsior’s broader clinical direction includes High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) in rural areas, IV antibiotics in the field, field-drawn lab samples, PLS licensure for ventilator management, blood products (currently in development), and POCUS for heart attacks and trauma (currently in development). These capabilities require more than equipment. They require trained clinicians who understand how to work within protocol and respond with discipline.
Education helps make advanced equipment meaningful. A ventilator, monitor, medication, or specialty tool only supports care when the crew is prepared to use it correctly. Excelsior’s training structure helps bridge that gap between equipment readiness and field performance.
